Pretty Little Studio: Winter Birthday

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Happy New Year's Eve, y'all!  Just popping in to share a card that I made for my nephew for his birthday last week.  It just so happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today.  Enjoy!
I started this card by topping a For You Shipping Tag with a Snowflake Vellum Die Cut and a Twinkle Die-Cut deer, backed with a tangle of silver thread and foam tape.
The tag was then laced with white string, tied in a bow; backed with foam tape; and set aside in order to dry emboss a little snowfall onto a white, cardstock, card face.
I added a couple of additional Snowflake Vellum Die Cuts, in addition to a quartet of Tree Topper Stickers, to the card face itself before topping it with the prepped tag.  I then created the "happy birthday" sentiment from a "happy" Aloha Words Die Cut, popped up with foam tape over Doodle Diary Clear Alpha Stickers to spell "birthday".  A healthy dose of Crystal Clear 8mm and 4mm Sequins completes the look.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a safe and blessed New Year; and I'll see you on the other side of 2017, friends!

The Studio Looking Forward Challenge

Hey, y'all!  I'm just popping in to share our final, December challenge over in The Studio.  We're calling it the Looking Forward Challenge, as we want you to show us what you're looking forward to or hoping for most in the New Year.  I could think of a million ways to take this challenge on but simply couldn't fit in my own take on it amidst the busyness of the holiday season.  So, you all will have to do this one up right.

Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what my talented teammies have cooked up just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, you have until Sunday, January 14, 2018, to link up your takes, on this Looking Forward Challenge and/or our previous Sparkle and Shine Challenge and/or Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a safe and blessed New Year, The Studio fans!

Friday Faves

Friday, December 29, 2017

Evening, y'all!  I didn't mean to be popping in here so late today.  We've been doing a little remodeling, while we're on break from school; and I've been at it strong all day long.  I did want to sneak a few things in for this month's Friday Faves, though.  So, I'll make it quick.  Let's get things started with Ranger's Letter It Birthday stamp set.  It seems that I never have enough birthday-themed things to play with; and I absolutely adore the perfect, little sentiments, which would work for more than just the occasion of a birthday, I might add, and mix of fonts this one boasts.
Speaking of delicious fonts, check out Waffle Flower's Little Bakers stamp set.  Aren't those little dolls precious?!  The whole pretty, little set has this baker's name written all over it.  I've never purchased from Waffle Flower before.  The packaging makes me cringe.  Whoever thought that shade of yellow was a good idea needs to think again; but I may be able to get past it, just this once ;).
It seems far too early to be thinking about Valentine's Day; but it'll be here before I'm ready, if I don't.  So, I'm including Avery Elle's Love Is in the Air stamp set for its versatility for card makers and scrappers and just because it's as cute as can be.
In reality, many of us scrappers are just beginning to edit and print our Christmas photos; and the December 2017 Embellishment Kit, from Freckled Fawn, would prove much more useful in the coming days.  Eeek!  So many fabulous bits, baubles, textures, prints, and colors to love!  Swoon!
You all already know that I'm a HUGE Vera Bradley fan.  Well, I think her new Winter Berry pattern is the bee's knees!  It's being shown here on her Carson Hobo Bag.  I just love all the space this option has, and it's comfy strap is top notch.
Finally, with 2018 being just around the corner, I couldn't help but include LuLu's Fashion Lounge's In Hot Dot-ter Long-Sleeve Black Dress.  I think that I've been working out enough to pull this one off for a hot night out on the town in celebration of the New Year.  You know, IF I were actually going out on the town.  Snuggling in with a movie and popcorn and cuddling with my kiddos is a little more my speed nowadays.
That wraps things up for this month, folks.  I hope you found something new here to love, too.  Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Pretty Little Studio: Merry Christmas

Wednesday, December 27, 2017

Morning, y'all!  I know that Christmas is officially over, and everyone is now looking forward to the New Year; but I wanted to sneak in one final, Christmas card, that's up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today, before the season comes to an end, especially because there are just so many fabulous, seasonal goodies in the shop.
I started this card by cutting that sweet, Prancer print into a narrow banner and anchoring it, to the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then topped it with slightly wider and shorter Trees & Flakes Vellum before anchoring it, too, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  A length of Baker's Twine was wrapped, three times, around the top portion of the card face; tied, in a bow, near its left edge...
and topped with the Merry Christmas Die Cut which also serves as my sentiment.
The Santa's List Vintage Die Cut was then popped up, with foam tape, over a red Off the Grid Cut-Apart Label which was stapled in place.

A Mint Acrylic Star, "HO!  HO!  HO!" Nice List Words Sticker, couple of star Tree Topper Stickers, and sprinkling of Gift Wrap Sequins complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Cupcake Inspirations' Challenge #436: North Pole.
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful Wednesday, friends!

Merry Christmas!

Monday, December 25, 2017

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!  And may you always remember the true reason for the season.  Blessings!

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.  This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.  So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.  So it was, that while they were there the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.  Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you:  You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."  And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.  Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning the Child.  And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.  But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.  Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. - Luke 2:1-20

Sunday School Tags, Reindeer Treats, & More

Sunday, December 24, 2017

Merry Christmas Eve, y'all!  Just popping in to share a few last-minute gifts that Adina and I made for the three-year-olds in my Sunday school class.  Enjoy!
I started the tags by stamping the ornaments in Jet Black ink and partially die-cutting them with my Big Shot.  I then hand-cut around their hangers, as well as their paper-pieced, gingham tops, and stamped the "Let us adore Him" sentiments in Garden Green ink.  Their centers were gold-embossed with the sweet, manger image, using this fabulous, new, glitter powder I found.  I'd been using one I'd purchased from Ranger, but it was NOT making me happy.  On a whim and date night my hubby and I took to Michael's, I might add, he convinced me to purchase this new one from Recollections.  I knew I needed a new one but hadn't yet had a spare moment to do my research and didn't want to spend our precious dollars on another crappy powder.  I'm thrilled this one embosses so smoothly and the glitter is an added bonus.  Woot!  Woot!  Little, ribbon bows and Baker's Twine, to attach them to their individual treats, complete the look.
The bags were stuffed with Reindeer Rice Krispies Treats which were a HUGE hit with our kiddos and super simple to make.  Tips: I cut 16 from a 9" x 13" pan.  The melted chocolate took a couple of hours to harden; and in order to provide a more even surface for the candy eyes and M&M noses, just so they weren't setting all wonky, we embellished the side of the treats that faced the bottom of the pan.
And, finally, I'll put an end to my rambling, since I know you're all super busy with Christmas being tomorrow and all, with a picture of how these festive tags, that I made for Paper Sweeties' November Release, look all dressed up on some of my jars of apple butter for family and friends.  So fun!
I'm off to frost a Peppermint White Velvet Cake for Jesus' birthday.  Mmm!  Thanks, as always, for visiting!  Have a blessed Christmas, dears!

{Supplies & Tools}
Stamps: Ornaments & Reason for the Season (Market Street Stamps) Paper: white (Paper Studio); gingham (Nikki Sivils) Ink: Garden Green (SU!); Jet Black (Ranger); watermark (VersaMark) Other: gold embossing powder (Recollections); 3/16" Circle Handheld punch & embossing gun (SU!); Clear Cut Stackers: Circles die (Wplus9); Big Shot (Sizzix); ribbon (Hobby Lobby)

PLS Pinterest Inspired: Making Memories

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Hey, y'all!  I'm up on the Pretty Little Studio blog this morning sharing a festive page inspired by the wreath in the Pinterest photo below and wanted to share here, too.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adding puddles of aqua, teal, and pink watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, base page.  I then splattered it with those same shades of watercolors, as well as lime watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.
The Mistletoe Leaf Wreath was then Cameo-cut from textured, white cardstock and paper-pieced with a heap of patterned prints from the shop.  Once it was adhered to the center of the page, I filled in its center with a haphazard grid of photos, all matted with white cardstock and backed with a snippet of cheesecloth, as well as Believe in Yourself Gold Metallic and Oh What Fun patterned prints and Be Merry Green, Christmas Town, and Stocking Stuffer vellums.  Beginning in the bottom left corner, I added layers to the Poinsettia Vintage Die Cut with Happy Memories and Grandma's House Die Cuts and stamped, in Lucky Limeade ink, evergreen branches and topped it with a Kris Kringle Flair Button, backed with a tangle of gold thread and embellished with a couple of foil, holly leaves.
A trio of Happy Memories Die-Cut ornaments, a couple of which were popped up with foam tape, were then strung from stamped, in Jet Black ink, strings.

Moving clockwise, I tucked a Home 3x4 Pocket Card, which had been punched with a small hole and laced with Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, behind the top left photo and used its front and back for my journaling.

The journaling reads, It took us 3 days, but together we were finally able to get enough lights working to cover the tree & surprise Daddy when he got home from S.D.  You both love getting your new ornaments.  This year, Adina's was inspired by Olaf.  We saw his short cartoon @ the beginning of Monster's University, & it totally cracked her up.  I can still hear her laughing.  And a light-up tent went to my little camper, Ezekiel.  12.11.13
A "making memories" Happy Memories Die-Cut title was then popped up with foam tape and dressed up with Remember Banner and Wood Partridge Vintage stickers, both of which were backed with white cardstock and popped up with more foam tape.
One final, Happy Memories Die-Cut ornament, hung from the same stamped, in Jet Black ink, string as the first three, as well as a sprinkling of Pink Petals and Gift Wrap sequins, completes the look.
Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Have a Merry Christmas, Pretty Little Studio fans!

Paper Sweeties 25 Days of Christmas Blog Hop

Sunday, December 17, 2017

Evening, y'all!  Just stopping back in to share a sweet, little, paper-pieced creation in honor of the 25 Days of Christmas Blog Hop going on, over at Paper Sweeties, all month long.
I started this card by trimming the left side of a piece of vintage, Christmas, newspaper print with a wide strip of pink, diamond, patterned paper and anchoring them both, to the white, cardstock, card face, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching.
I then topped a For You Sweet Cuts, die-cut, from a gray, polka dot, patterned paper, tag with a darling, paper-pieced, Somewhere Over the Rainbow house, which was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock and popped up with foam tape.  A little Glossy Accents gives just the right amount of shine to the paper-pieced windows; and a bit of stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a white, cardstock die cut, Snow Friends holly is the home's crown and glory.  The holly, too, was paper-pieced and given a touch of shine with Dazzling Diamonds.
The tag itself was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "A Little Dash of Winter Cheer", from Warm Winter Wishes, sentiment; backed with a snippet of cheesecloth; and popped up, with foam tape, in the center of the card face.
A trio of Snow Friends, paper-pieced, on white, cardstock die cuts, snowflakes and scrumptious, Frosting seam binding ribbon, double bow, embellished with a length of white lace and an ivory button, laced with white string, tied in a bow, complete the look.
Be sure to pop in to see how the team has been and continues to be inspired from December 1st through Christmas Day.  Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Merry Christmas, Paper Sweeties fans!

The Studio Sparkle & Shine Challenge

Morning, friends!  Just popping in to share this month's second challenge over in The Studio.  We're looking for pages with things that sparkle and shine.  I've added lots of foam, glitter Thickers to my take for sparkle and gold stitching and sequin stars for shine.  Enjoy!
I started this page adding aqua and yellow, watercolor puddles to the watercolor paper, base page.  I then splattered it with those same shades of watercolors, as well as navy and red watercolors before stenciling random numbers, from top to bottom, in Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  Those numbers were also penned around to make them stand out a bit more, before everything was splattered once again but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  A woodgrain, cut-apart tag was then laced with Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, and tucked into the bottom left corner of the design.  That Baker's Twine was also used to stitch a trail from the bow to the opposite edge of the page...

and ground my "5th GRADE Adventures" title which was created from "5" and "Adventures" die cuts, popped up with foam tape, and Cameo-cut, from Basic Black and Wild Wasabi cardstocks respectively, "th" and "GRADE".  I ran the latter through my Big Shot to create the polka dot embossing and inked its edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  The "5th" was also backed with a super fun globe die cut, popped up with foam tape and tied right into the title itself.
Glitter alphas to record the 13-14 school year and a quote ground the design.  The quote reads, 'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.'  - Nelson Mandela
A foam, glitter "awesome" tops the design.
Playful, little, paper, airplane die cuts, popped up with foam tape, with stitched, Baker's Twine trails, were scattered throughout...
and a "NOTHING BETTER" die cut, popped up with foam tape and stamped, in Jet Black ink, with "FAVE", as well as a heap of foam, glitter stars and gold, star sequins, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's December 24th Sketch Challenge, which I'll post here just as soon as it becomes available.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what my talented teammies have cooked up just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, you have until Sunday, January 14, 2018, to link up your takes, on this Sparkle and Shine Challenge and/or our previous, Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Then, we'll all be back, once again, on New Year's Eve, with one final challenge to take you into the New Year.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!

{Supplies & Tools}

Pretty Little Studio: No Place Like Home

Monday, December 11, 2017

Morning, y'all!  I'm up on the Pretty Little Studio blog this am, sharing my first Christmas page of the season.  It was inspired by Marie-Pierre Capistran's newest Home for Christmas collection (Although, you'll find a number of others were used, too.) and an oldie, but a goodie, Quilt Prints stamp set from Wplus9 Design.
I started this page by stamping the Quilt Prints, in Jet Black ink, on the watercolor paper, base page.  I then added puddles of soft, blue and purple watercolors before splattering everything with those same watercolors, as well as bright pink watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  The Quilt Prints flowers were then paper-pieced, using a heap of scrumptious papers from the shop, to set the stage for my family photo, which was matted with white cardstock and backed with a snippet of cheesecloth for texture.  It was then topped with a "no place like home" Home 3x4 Pocket Card, which serves as my title, and a cute, little, heart, word bubble Snow & Hot Cocoa Die Cut, popped up with foam tape.
A For You Shipping Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, was tucked under the title's left edge and topped with a couple of Grandma's House Die Cuts, as well as a darling, Happy Memories Die-Cut deer, popped up with foam tape.
To its right, I added a stunning, large, floral Grandma's House Die Cut, which trails down the right side of the photo thanks to the Holly Leaves Vintage Die Cut.
A number of additional, smaller Grandma's House Die Cuts add layers; and a sweet, little Wood Partridge Vintage Sticker, backed with white cardstock, hand-cut out, and popped up with foam tape, crowns them all.
The entire design was then grounded with a "family" Happy Memories Die Cut, popped up with foam tape and embellished with a "Merry Christmas" Kris Kringle Flair Button; Grandma's House Die-Cut holly leaves, studded with a single, red button, laced with white string; and a combination of Nice List Words and Magical Word phrase stickers.
A Silver Label Die Cut, etched with the Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, date and popped up with foam tape, as well as a happy scattering of Clear Skies Sequins, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Scrap Our Stash's December Tic-Tac-Toe Stash Challenge.  I went with mist/ink spray, holiday theme, and sequin for a diagonal tic-tac-toe from the top left to bottom right.

Be sure to add December's gorgeous, vellum, Freebie of the Month die cuts to your orders of $24 or more.

Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Have a wonderful work week, friends!
